Pink Vs Red? Burt's Bees Lips For Valentine's Day *sponsored product/s*

Hello Lovelies, hope you all had a fab weekend!

A while back I was able to review some lovely 100% natural lip colours from Burt's Bees for you, and since Valentine's Day is coming up soon, I thought I'd revisit the lip range again, but with some new shades ^_^

In my mind there's only two lip colours to consider wearing on V-day - pink or red! Haha, of course you shouldn't be limited to those two, but for the sake of this post I'll take the traditional route. Pink is innocent and cute, while red is grown up and glam.

Just note that the lip shimmers shouldn't be wound up as they can't wind back down again!

Red can be a bold colour to wear, so you can always tone it down by trying a pigmented lip gloss instead. Burt's Bees lip gloss in 'Evening Glow' is gorgeous, and will give you that flirty look without being too loud.

This is two coats of gloss, as I wanted to build it up and see what colour pay off this gloss is capable of. As you can see the pigmentation's excellent for a lip gloss - and it doesn't feel sticky or heavy on the lips either.

Here's a better look at my eye makeup. Neutral but sparrrrkly! Ehehe, yep those are little love hearts I drew on the end of my eyeliner...

FOTD
Base: Etude House CC Cream GlowInnisfree Mineral Melting BB Cushion #2, Bourjois baked blush in Rose D'or, and Etude House Aloha Highlighter
Eyes: Pop Champagne and Clutch Brown glitter shades from Etude's So Chic Play palette, false lashes from Ebay, brown eyeliner from Face of Australia

If you're not much a lip gloss fan, then the lip shimmer in 'Cherry Cerise' is a great alternative. It's balm-like texture slides smoothly onto the lips leaving them tingling with a minty sensation. The colour pay off is great too~ You can check out the review I did of it, plus a fotd look, here.

Being a fan of the gradient lip look, I also found the lip shimmers could be used for a naturally sweet and pretty cherry gradient effect too. I used the baby pink lip shimmer shade in 'Strawberry Fraise' and the red shade 'Cherry Cerise' to create the look.

I only applied 'Cherry Cerise' to the inner parts of my lips, and then applied 'Strawberry Fraise' on the rest of my outer lips, blending any harsh lines from the red shade away.

The overall gradient effect is quite subtle, and very natural as compared to when using lip tints or lipsticks. I think the result is so innocent and cute!

You can check out the whole range of Burt's Bees Lip Colour products here. And Priceline and Target stock them too~

Thanks for reading lovelies. Pink versus red, which do you girls like better?

xoxo Tulip

  1. Pretty! I love the hearts you drew at the ends of your eyeliner, very cute hehe. I have the lip shimmer in Rhubarb, which I've had for a bajillion years but it never seems to finish lol. They're very pigmented though!

  5. The hearts are really cute :D They're perfect for Valentine's Day~
I've seen these so many times whenever I went to Target but never bought them because I wasn't sure if they're good or not. Now I really want to get the lip shimmers- those two colors combined together are perfect for gradient lips. ^^ Thanks for sharing~

  7. Love the red gloss! Looks really nice. I was wondering how strong the scents are? I tried a burts and bees lip balm a while ago and couldn't use it because the smell was so overpowering. I wanted to try these out but every time I look at B&B now I just remember how the balm smelt haha.

  8. Thanks Tiggles :)
The lip shimmers have a noticeable peppermint scent, and it does linger a bit on the lips afterwards. I didn't find it overpowering, but it's definitely noticeable. The lip glosses on the other hand have a slight 'lip gloss' kind of scent, but hardly noticeable to me. Hope this helps!

  9. Thanks Mei ^_^
The lip shimmers don't last as long as a lipstick - I'd say it lasts about 2 to 2.5 hours~

  12. Aww, thank you Amy! I tried a pink gloss last time and it wasn't pigmented on my lips, but this red shade definitely is pigmented enough!
