My 2013 Beauty Favourites~

Hi gorgeous girls (and boys)!

I'm gonna kick off the new year with a 2013 Beauty Favourites post, and show you some (just some) of my most favourite-ist skincare and makeup products of 2013. It was tough as there've been many products I've enjoyed, but I managed to pick out only 3 products per category to show you.

Let's start with skincare. I'm a skincare fanatic, and I'm sure that'll continue through to 2014 ^_^

These 3 products particularly thrilled me last year, and warranted repurchases from me, which doesn't happen often.

Sanctuary Spa Polishing Hot Cloth Cleanser, Sanctuary Spa Youth Boosting Facial Oil, Mizon Snail Repair Cream

I don't normally get excited over cleansers, but Sanctuary Spa's hot cloth polishing cleanser is ah-mazing! It's a little more time consuming then regular cleansers, but so worth it for bright, clear skin.

Another skincare product I really enjoyed is also from Sanctuary Spa - the Secret Facial Oil. It's packed with all sorts of goodies such as rosehip, sunflower, jojoba, and wheatgerm oils, and it's great for pampering skin.

My final contender for favourite skincare of the year is the Mizon All In One Snail Repair Cream. It's been so good for my skin - making it softer, brighter, and less blemish prone overall.

Next category up is my favourite face bases. I have yet to find my HG foundations or bb creams, but I have found definite favourites.

Etude House Precious Minerals Bright Fit BB Cream, Lioele Triple the Solution BB Cream, Etude House Nymph Aura Line Balm

The Etude House Bright Fit BB Cream is probably the closest to HG status I've ever gotten - and strangely enough it was the very first bb cream I ever tried (technically it was the original version of the bb cream, but you know what I mean, right?).

I tried countless bb creams since then but I keep coming back to this one. It's so smooth and easy to apply, has decent coverage, dewy finish, and is so affordable. The only thing is that I'm between shades so I buy two and mix to get a better match. And also it's not good for flash photography. Other than that I do love it.

Lioele's Triple BB Cream also got me really excited - for awhile I thought it was my HG bb cream! The shade's a better match on me, and the coverage is better than Etude's, but the texture is thicker to apply and not as dewy on my skin. Nevertheless, it's a bb cream that I'll keep re-purchasing alongside Etude's Bright Fit, since it makes my skin look so good.

My fave foundation of the year is also from Etude House. Rather than a liquid texture, this foundation is like melted butter, which just adheres to my skin nicely. Again I'm between shades, and the coverage could be better, but overall a really nice foundation which makes my skin look dewy and radiant ^_^

Etude House Aloha V-Line Maker, Makeup Academy Cream Blush in Bittersweet, Lioele Blooming Shimmer Pearl Base

Now moving on to favourite cheek products of 2013. It was tricky, but here are the top three finalists - two highlighters, and one blush. I adore highlighters - they just add so much radiance to my skin, and they contour a little too (my face looks wider and flatter without it).

Etude's Aloha highlighter is a powder product with a golden sheen, which is subtle and pretty, while Lioele's highlighter is a cream/liquid product, with a slight pinky pearly finish.

My fave blush of the year goes to Makeup Academy's cream blush, which is so, so cheap, yet so, so good. Bittersweet is quite pigmented, and is a cute, dolly pink shade.

KATE Mascara Base, Shu Uemura Lash Curler, Benefit Eyeshadow in gilt-y pleasure (2nd shade down)

Next category - eye makeup products!

I want to know how I managed to do anything before I bought the Shu Uemura lash curler 0_o

It's a miracle item, seriously get this if you have poker straight lashes.

Another miracle item to me is this KATE mascara base - my lashes don't hold up well with many mascaras, so this base is so good for keeping my lashes curled, while lengthening them a bit at the same time too. It's a double win.

Lastly, my favourite eyeshadow of 2013 is the shade gilt-y pleasure, from Benefit. It's a wearable light gold shade, that I wear a lot.

Etude House Sweet Recipe Jelly Lipsticks (JPK002 & JOR203), Max Factor Giant Pen Sticks, Revlon Lip Butter in Cherry Tart, Bourjois Effet 3D lipgloss

Okay, final category now, which is favourite lip products. Ermmm, I couldn't pick just three (I'm a lipstick junkie after all), so here are the lip products I was absolutely obsessed with in 2013.

The Etude Jelly Lipsticks are practically little stumps now, I used these two shades sooo much. JOR203 was my most used red lipstick, while JPK002 was my most used lipstick of 2013. I just really like the colours, the slick formula, and the glossy finish <3

Revlon's Cherry Tart was also one of my obsessions in 2013 - the shade is so bright, but it's such a gorgeous shade, and the buttery formula is nice too.

Favourite gloss of the year goes to Bourjois - I really like the non sticky formula and barely noticeable scent, and the slight shimmers makes my lips look plump and juicy :P

Finally, I have absolutely been loving my Max Factor Pen Sticks. I'd had them awhile but hadn't really been using them regularly until about 2 months ago, and now I use them several times a week. They are so versatile and the shades are lovely - sometimes I create gradient lips with them, sometimes I blot them with my finger for a stain effect, and sometimes I wear them fully opaque. I keep all of them in my handbag nowadays!

....oh noes, I forgot to add the Etude Icecream nail polishes!

And let's finish off this favourites post with a snap of my favourite beauty packaging of 2013 ^_^

Let's hope 2014 will bring me new beauty favourites, and even cuter packaging!

What were your 2013 beauty favourites lovelies?

Thanks for reading!

  8. Yay another Etude House enthusiast :) I also think the bright fit BB is one of the best I've ever tried. I love the jelly lipsticks too! I'm not sure if I got a dud or if I used it too much but my favorite of the 5 jelly ones I have totally broke in half at the base and it looked like it had holes in it O...O I wish they'd keep making this line with more colors.

  9. I love the two Etude House BB creams I've tried, but the colour match is terrible for me. ;_; Way too yellow, even the light ones.

Also, I picked up the Model's Prefer bigger eye shadow palette after you mentioned the Sweet Shadows one recently. I still need to swatch it against the Too Faced one.
