A little while back Pinky Paradise sent me a pair of super cute lenses to try. I wanted to do something other than a straight up circle lens review, so I decided to play around and create a makeup look I normally wouldn't wear, to show off these lenses.
So I was inspired to make a macaron themed makeup look!
Although I do love colours, I always tend to play it safe with soft and neutral colours on myself. So jumping from brown eyeshadow to green eyeshadow was...interesting ^_^
Do you like the props I used? Hehe, I was originally going to go for a 'pink fairy' kind of look, hence the fake flowers prop, but I changed my mind once the theme of macarons came to me. Maybe I can do a fairy look some other time.
Lenses
These lenses have a very intricate and pretty lace design - they're more of a honey gold brown in colour, which is great for lightening up very dark eyes like mine. I really like the enlargement factor too.

Etude House Baby Choux Base in Peach Innisfree Melting Foundation in shade W2 Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer in shade 51 Etude House Aloha V-Line Maker (highlighter shade) |
I wanted a glowy and radiant base, so I chose brightening and illuminating products, and applied plenty of highlighter.

I settled on green and pink as my macaron eye colours - they complement each other well, despite being at the opposite ends of the colour scale to each other. In my mind the green represents Pistachio macarons and pink represents Rose flavoured macarons <3
Finished off the eyes with brown eyeliner (a softer alternative to black), a good coating of mascara, and clean brows.

I actually really wanted to do pink eyebrows to give the look some extra oomph, but having dark eyebrows, my attempt to fill them in with pink eyeshadow didn't work out T_T

Makeup Academy Cream Blush in Bittersweet Etude House Jelly Lipstick in Lemon (clear gloss) Max Factor Giant Pen Stick in Vibrant Pink |
A macaron themed makeup look can only have a dolly pink shade for the cheeks, correct? I used MUA's cream blush which is a sweet dolly pink. I didn't apply too much as I was going to apply a more vivid pink on the lips.
Using MF's pen stick in Vibrant Pink, I created a gradient lip effect - applying the most pigmented colour on the inside of the lips, and blending out on the outer lips with my finger. I applied a little bit of clear gloss over it as my lips were a little dry that day.

I also made sure to co-ordinate my nails too, with pastel macaron colours! Have received a lot of compliments on them in the last few days :) |

Used the lightest green shade on the inner eye, the next darkest on the middle of my eyelid, and finished with the darkest green shade on the outer section of my lid, and then blended well~ |

And this is the end of the post! Although I did make a few little mistakes here and there, I'm still happy with the result, and I'm glad I stepped out of my comfort zone to play with colourful eye makeup.

I like playing with colourful eye make up too. It's so boring just to stick to the browns and nudes. I don't see any mistakes at all! Looks cute, and I want to eat those macarons!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Joyce, glad you liked it ^_^
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks Rini! I love pastels, so it was fun to use those colours ^_^
ReplyDeleteThanks Moon! These colours are pretty but I wasn't sure if they would suit me at first >_<
ReplyDeleteThanks Mindy, glad you liked this!
ReplyDeleteYep, the colours did remind me of Spring too ^_^
I've had the essence primer a while, but this was the first time using it, as the colour palette I used isn't that great pigmentation. The primer feels smooth, and it didn't crease my eyeshadow so I do like it. As for the Etude highlighter, I def reccomend it - I use it all the time!
Thanks Camille :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam! I am loving the lip pen <3
ReplyDeleteExactly the look I was going for, thanks ^_^
