Hi all! Welcome to this month's favourites (and not so favourites) post ^_^
I don't tend to do these types of post very often, but since I've tried a lot of new products the last few months I thought I'd do one.
Let's begin with my April stand-outs!
This Revlon quad was part of a GWP promo, and it has been the only eyeshadow I've been using the past 2-3 weeks! The shadows are so smooth and silky.
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
After years of hearing rave reviews about this cult favourite item, I finally caved in and bought the Shu Uemura curler. And all I can say is "It's amazinggg! Why did I wait this long!!!"
A'kin Rosehip Oil
Having struggled with some dry, patchy and dehydrated skin lately, I finally decided to give Rosehip Oil a go.
I've noticed smoother and softer skin, as well as a distinct decrease in the 'thirstiness' of my skin. It's definitely a crucial part of my skincare routine now.
Nivea Pure and Natural Cleansing Toner
I first tried this toner back in December as part of a trial team, and when the bottle was finished I went out and bought a new one. It's a lovely toner - it feels really cooling and refreshing, is free from a lot of nasties (parabens, etc), and it gently removes all last traces of makeup.
Etude House Dear My Jelly Lips in Grapefruit Orange (JPK004)
Recently reviewed here, this sheer coloured lipstick from Etude has become a must have item in my handbag. The balmy formula is so moisturising, and the natural glossy pinky-peachy colour is so flattering and natural. A backup tube of this is on my May shopping list!
Essence Kajal Pencil in Teddy
I've been taking a break from black eyeliner recently as I've begun to favour the more natural look of brown eyeliners. The one I'm currently using is a super cheap one from Essence. It's not really a favourite, but it is the one liner I've been using all month so that's why it's featured here.
Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait
Another lip favourite, I've been wearing this a lot this month. It's been living in my handbag most of this month ^^ It's super flattering, and the little gold shimmers really make my lips more juicy and glossy.
Bourjois 3D Max Lip Gloss in rose acidulé 61
If you read my Arbonne Cosmetics review, you'd know that I was mega in love with the lip polish in Posh. However at $36 a pop, I was keen to find a cheaper replacement, so when I noticed these Bourjois lip glosses on sale for $10 (down from $22), I had to get it. While not quite as lovely as Posh, I thought it was an acceptable replacement and I even ended up going back and buying a second tube as a back up.
Liole Triple the Solution BB Cream
I think I've found The One. My HG bb cream.
Triple the Solution has fabulous coverage, yet doesn't feel heavy, and it brightens my skin, but doesn't make it look ghostly white. I am seriously loving this, and hopefully, hopefully the hunt for my perfect bb cream has come to an end!
More on this bb cream another time. Let's jump to my un-favourites now~
Physician's Formula Mineral Glow Pearls Blush
I don't know why but out of all my recent purchases, this blush was the most regretful!
The included brush is terrible (but not why I hate it), it shed the first time I used it, the pigmentation's kind of weak, and it didn't really give me any glow or luminosity. It's kind of a 'meh' blusher for me.
MUA Lipstick in 05
Mostly an un-favourite because this particular shade is a very sheer pink which didn't show up on my pigmented lips. And then the second time I used it, the bullet snapped from the bottom 0.0
Can't really regret it though, because it's only a £1 lipstick!
Etude House Dear My Neon lip tint in Orange
This is a regretful purchase because it simply doesn't work on me - for some bizarre reason my upper lip is not only lighter than my bottom lip, but it also seems to repel all liquid lip tints! Meaning only my bottom lip, and the inside of my top lip will become stained with colour. I tried a red lip tint too, and it was the same result as below, my upper lip didn't become stained T_T
Palmer's Cocoa Butter Body Lotion
Sad to say, this body lotion actually nearly made me ill when I used it. The scent is very, very strong - not a problem if it smells like cocoa butter, but this actually smells extremely superficial and sharp. It kind of made me dizzy and want to pass out. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, especially those with sensitive noses!
That's it for now. What were your faves and un-faves this month?

LOL for the Lip tint, actually my upper lip is like that too, you should try staining on of your fingers with the lip tint and then kind of "rub" gently to your upper lip, that has worked for me~
ReplyDeleteAlso, I've been wanting to try the Lioele BB Cream so badly, hope you post a review about it soon !! :)
the revlon shadows look great and i hope you review the BB cream soon c:
ReplyDeleteoh my lipstick just broke off o - o wow.
ReplyDeleteI want that shu uemura eyelash curler *-* it's like perfection! haha XD
I had the exact same thoughts when I asked my friend to buy me the eyelash curler! I recently bought the Revlon Lip Butter for the first time so I'm excited to try it :) I never really liked Palmer's cocoa butter either simply because of the smell and greasy/buttery texture.

Uggggh I need to replace my shu curler. I've had mine since 2005 and i hate that you can't buy replacement pads... I used up my extra one already.
ReplyDeleteMy god, I hope they will bring Revlon to my country!! Always so many nice reviews about their eyeshadows and foundations and lip butters :(((
ReplyDeleteI don't have special favorites/unfavorites this month, because I've been using same products for months lol

I've also got the Physician's Formula blush and although it's not exactly a bad product, I had a little higher expectations. It was just a so-so product for me. And yes, the brush was terrible!
ReplyDeleteHehe welcome to the Shu Uemura club! Since I first bought it 2 years ago nothing compares ;) It says on the box to buy a new one every 6 months but I normally try to use for about a year! It sucks you can't buy replacement pads though :(
ReplyDeleteThe Shu Uemura eyelash curler is my personal favourite!! It really makes a difference doesn't it?? ^-^ I still haven't gotten my hands on the Etude House Sweet Recipe range TT^TT I want that lippie so badly~~~
ReplyDeleteTwo standouts for me this past month has to be the YSL Glossy Stain in Corail Aquatique and the Revlon Colorstay foundation. I am also loving the Nature Republic Aloe gel.

Nooo, it killed itself, lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks ^^
No matter how many times I coat my upper lip it just seems to slide off! Hehe, I will try that tip though, thanks ^^
ReplyDeleteYep, I'll try to get the lioele review up soon!
It's a time saver for me!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'll be working on the review soon ^^
I really can't believe I didn't get the curler sooner! I can have properly curled lashes now ^^
ReplyDeleteNow I know why it's considered a cult favourite! It's almost kind of life changing :)
ReplyDeleteHehe, it's a great bb cream if you want heavy coverage but lightweight feel!
ReplyDeleteWow, but nearly 8 years is a really great lifespan! I agree, having replacement pads to buy would be so much more affordable and convenient!
ReplyDeleteOh, I thought Revlon would be available in several countries since it's such a huge brand! Revlon's quite expensive here compared to the States though!
ReplyDeleteI think it disappointed me more because it's a blusher I've been lusting after for a while now! But compared to my cheap Etude blusher which I really love, it really fell short of my expectations!
ReplyDeleteHaha, why did I wait so long?! It's an almost life changing product ^_~
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to try to stretch this out for a year or more~
I was pretty amazed by how my lashes looked - I've never had a curler that could curl all of them without pinching!
ReplyDeleteOoh, those favourites sound absolutely lovely!
Still need to try the Liole BB cream. Is that the new or old version??
