Etude House Sweet Recipe - Dear My Jelly Lips Review - JOR203, JPK004 (Grapefruit Orange)

EDIT: I've now reviewed JPK002, JPK003, and JBE101 as well - click here to see the swatches~

Hello beauties! Here's the next part in my series of Etude House, Sweet Recipe reviews~

I have here another two of the Dear My Jelly Lips Talk lipsticks - there's three in the pictures but I have already reviewed one of them, the orange lippie in JOR201 Sweet Orange, which you can see the swatches and review here~

Frankly, after trying Sweet Orange, I was somewhat disappointed in the sheerness of the colour, which failed to make my pigmented lips orange (it's improved slightly). However, I can happily report that these two other colours yielded much better results!

As you can see, the only way to differentiate from the lipsticks is from the jelly bean beaded band around the base of the tube. These lipsticks do have names, but since I haven't been able to find any translations, we'll just stick with the numbers for now.

To recap, if you haven't read my previous Jelly Lips review - these lipsticks are jam packed with plant extracts such as bliberry, sugar cane, sugar maple, orange, and lemon, to give lips vibrant and shiny 'jelly coated' lips.

The Jelly lipsticks are touted as sheer coloured lipsticks, and focus more on giving lips a soft and shimmery finish.

Texture wise, they're not really a creamy lipstick, but more on the balmy, tinted, glossy side (if that makes sense). They glide on really well, and they feel more like a moisturising lip balm, rather than a traditional lipstick.

The bullets look extremely vibrant (almost shockingly so), but they aren't opaque lipsticks, and glide onto the lips more like a tinted lip balm, with the added glossiness of a lipgloss.

They do smell like candy, but the scent doesn't linger after application.

The net weight of these lippies are 3.4 grams - a bit on the small side, I think. I've been using Sweet Orange a lot, and because they do require more reapplications throughout the day, and also because I love how balmy they feel on my lips, I do feel like I could finish these lipsticks reasonably fast!

And yes, after application lips do indeed look soft and jelly-like!

These lipsticks though sheer, do allow for some layering for a stronger effect

Due to the slippy, balmy texture of these lipsticks, I'd say the lasting power is about 3 hours maximum, but 2 hours would probably be the norm. 1 swipe is sufficient for a coating of colour from both JOR203, and JPK004 Grapefruit Orange. However, JOR201 Sweet Orange tends to look more blood orange, rather than orange on my pigmented lips.

I am in love with this shade! After seeing how sheer the orange lippie was on my lips, I was afraid this soft, peachy-pinky shade would not show up on my lips at all - but luckily I was proven wrong. This is the colour I wish my lips would look naturally!

I've already decided that I'm repurchasing this one - I don't think I can live without it, lol.

Here's how JOR203 looks on me. I chose this because I really admire the red lip look, but am actually quite afraid of red lips on myself. I thought I could work my way up to a proper red lip by starting off with something more sheer like this Jelly lipstick ^_^

I didn't apply it very heavily here, so the colour doesn't look very exciting, but yes the colour can be built up!

Overall, these two lippies didn't disappoint - I really love how they make my lips look soft and shiny, and jelly-like <3

I purchased these from ebay seller f2plus1. Individually they cost $9.47, but there's also an option to buy 2 at a slightly discounted price.

Would you give sheer lipsticks a try? And do you like matte lips or glossy lips?

Thanks for reading!
