Hello lovelies - brace yourself, today's review is on the super, super, cute Cupcake All Over Colours, from Etude House's new Sweet Recipe Collection <3
I have 3 of the 5 colours currently gracing my dressing table - Peach Sugar Cake, Orange Choux Cake, and Raspberry Mousse Cake.
Aren't the names precious? And they make me feel hungry too!
These 'all over colours' are a 3 in 1 product - they can be used on eyes as eyeshadow, on cheeks as blusher, and on lips. I love a good multi-functional product, but are they worth it?
EDIT: I've now uploaded a post on the colours Blueberry Cheese Cake & Strawberry Chiffon Cake here!

Where to start? The packaging, of course! I have a special fixation fondness for dessert themed cosmetics, so when I first saw the Sweet Recipe Collection I basically had my bank card ready to go right then.

ZOMG! Kawaii, right? |
These Cupcake Colours are very adorably packaged in tin pots resembling cupcakes. Each shade has it's own 'flavour' and design.
I am absolutely dying over the way they've designed the outer packaging in particular - it looks like a little pastry box! Gahh, it's almost too cute to handle!
Of course, the downside to this type of tin pot packaging is inevitably the hygiene issue. If it were just a blush I'd happily use clean fingers to apply each time, but since I would like to use this on eyes, lips and cheeks I now have to use separate brushes to apply it, since I don't relish the idea of transferring bacteria all over my face >_<
Here be swatches! I am in love with all of these shades - though I do have a special fondness for Orange Choux Cake, due to my current orange makeup obsession. You can see that the pigmentation's pretty good - and of course the colour isn't so intense after you blend it out. The colour can be built up nicely too, for those who like a pretty pop of colour.

Heavily swatched, and then lightly blended out~ Peach Sugar Cake looks more 'mousse-like' in texture as I've been using this for 2 weeks, while the other 2 colours are newly opened. |
Texture wise - it's between creamy and waxy-balmy. It's blends easily, and doesn't feel heavy or oily on the face. The staying power on eyes and cheeks is really decent too - the colour's still there at the end of the day, though there will have been a slight wearing off.
Each tin pot holds 10 grams worth of product, and Etude advises that the shelf life of these is until 18 months after opening. Scent-wise, they all have the same lovely peach scent (yeah, I'm a bit sad they didn't have different scents to match each concept, but no biggie). It's not very strong and barely noticeable during application, and it doesn't linger.

Before I get to more pretty pics, let's get through the downsides first. I did find the colours ended up gathering into my eyelid crease a bit, though primer did help reduce it - fortunately it's not noticeable on me since I have hooded eyelids, but it may be an issue for other people.
Secondly, though lovely colours for lips, the formula isn't moisturising so those with dry lips beware. Peach Sugar Cake is the worst offender - if I don't exfoliate and moisturise beforehand I get a minimum of 1 hour before my lips look a patchy, shrivelled, flaky mess. The other two colours are much less drying, so normally a good coat of lip balm beforehand is all I need for pretty looking lips. But those with dry flaky lips, you'll definitely need to get your lips in good condition first.
Looking at the promo pictures, Peach Sugar Cake was the colour I fell in love with first, so this pretty shade became my first Sweet Recipe buy.
I think Peach Sugar Cake is a really lovely natural and 'innocent' looking colour - perfect for days I don't want to have a pink flush, but still want a bit of girlie colour on my cheeks. It's a cute light peachy pink colour for lips, though it may end up washing out anyone with a more tanned or darker complexion.

Next up Orange Choux Cake - simply put, I adore this! It looks scarily orange when heavily swatched, but it blends out nicely into a pretty tangerine shade. I feel incredibly happy when I wear this, since the colour is just so...cheerful? It's good for days you want to channel some quirkiness and fun ^_^

Orange Choux Cake on eyes, lips, and cheeks <3 |
Raspberry Mousse Cake is a raspberry pink shade, that follows closely behind Orange Choux Cake for the favourite colour position. I was a bit apprehensive about buying this since I hadn't tried red blushers before. It's a colour Snow White would wear (in my imagination) - lightly blended on cheeks and lips it's more of a cherry pink - just lovely!
So there we go - the three newest blushers in my collection, and I love them all. If these shades aren't to your liking, there are another 2 in the range - one is a quite cool toned bluey-pink shade, and the other is a traditional pink blush shade.
And I purchased Orange Choux Cake and Raspberry Mousse Cake for $6.50 each, plus shipping costs, from RoseRoseShop. Both sellers I would recommend for fast, and good reliable service.
That was a looong review - hopefully you're still here :)

I totally love Orange Choux Cake as well. I do gradient lips with that and Peach Sugar Cake. Too bad you didn't get Blueberry Cheese Cake. It looks absolutely lovely on the cheeks!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you wore Orange Choux Cake on your 2nd face shot. You look like a charming fairy! Thanks for sharing!

These are adorable! I really like how you can use this as three different products as well.
ReplyDeletethe orange blush looks really fresh on you :)
ReplyDeleteJoyce @carouselstreet.com
Thank you~! Ooh - fresh sounds like a great way to describe it :)
ReplyDeleteI was pleasantly surprised too ^^
ReplyDeleteYep, they'd be my daily lip colours if only they were more moisturising - but I guess then they'd be too slippery on the cheeks >_<
You should get the Orange Choux one - the colour is simply adorable :)
ReplyDeleteMe too, I love peach scents, and chocolate scents, lol.
It's such an adorable colour!
ReplyDeleteOh no, now I regret not getting the Blueberry one! I was worried my skintone would be to yellow for it >_<
Thank you!
It's a lovely, natural colour ^^
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading!
It is indeed!
ReplyDeleteThey are too cute to resist ^^
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam!
Yes, they do - it makes it so hard to resist!

ReplyDeleteNot a problem - I am currently using the makeup academy brow kit - it's around £3.50!
They totally are ^^
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of multipurpose products - makes it seem like $ well spent!

Cute picture of you in the glasses. Adorable looking product but I think there are too many flaws in it for it to be a great product.
ReplyDeletethe peach color is so lovely ♥
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! These are so cute~~~ I have been eyeing this collection for the longest time and your blog posts are not helping. Definitely going to be ordering some of these soon!!!! You look so pretty in all the pictures.

Yes, Etude has the cutest packaging :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Yes, Etude House really knows how to make me buy their stuff, lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading ^^
Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm growing them out, so they're a bit unkempt. I'm currently using the brow kit from Makeup Academy - it's super cheap, and I just use the mini brush provided in the kit to fill in my brows.Soft light strokes, simple as pie!
Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteHehe, true that it's not perfect, but even if I can only use it as a blusher I still consider it excellent value~
It is, isn't it? It's perfect for a soft sweep of colour :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, the more of these I try, the more I want the rest of the collection as well! Not good at all >_<
ReplyDeleteI think they'd look adorable on you!
Thank you ^^
Beautiful Pics! You got a great Blog. Would you like to follow each other?
ReplyDeleteJust let me know ;)

Aren't these darling!
ReplyDeleteCute packaging sucks me in each and every time.
I think my favourites are orange choux cake and raspberry mousse case, but doubt I will end up purchasing, I can't stand lip products that are too drying!
Yes me too - I'm a total sucker for cute packaging!
ReplyDeleteIf these were a less drying formula on the lips, I'd be ecstatic!
All three are lovely on you, but I think my favourite is Peach Sugar Cake. Sorry to hear that it doesn't fare too well on the lips though. I love multipurpose cream products like these - it's always cool when you can use something just to add colour where you want it.
ReplyDeleteI can anticipate a major depletion in my bank account very very soon >-<
ReplyDeleteThank you ^^
ReplyDeleteYes, that was the one downfall for these products - they'd be pretty great otherwise!
Thank you ^^
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice review! :) I was thinking hard which colours to get, but now you helped me decide. :)) You're really pretty and I love your blog <3
ReplyDeleteawesome review! I want to try these now. I'm the biggest sucker for candy or dessert-themed ANYTHING.
ReplyDeleteThank you ^^
ReplyDeleteMe too - cannot resist the cute, lol!
I'm glad my review helped! I'm sure you'll like these cupcake colours :)
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you!
