Hello! It's time for another review, and this time it's on a Lioele liquid highlighter, that I am absolutely loving so much at the moment - the Blooming Shimmer Pearl Base <3
I think most of you know by now that I'm crazy about highlighters, I think they're my most important must have item after bb cream! I don't have great skin, but I can fake it with a good highlighter ^_^
By placing highlighter on the highest points of your face (where the sunlight will hit) you can easily achieve fresh and radiant skin.
I love this Lioele highlighter because it has such an incredibly natural finish - it literally melds into your base (foundation or bb cream), so it basically just looks like you have naturally luminous skin.
Lioele's packaging is super girlie and pretty - this highlighter comes packaged in a pretty pink squeeze tube, embossed with Lioele's signature Cinderella-esque pumpkin carriage logo. The cap is a reflective metallic pink, which is very fun, and the nozzle hole is quite tiny, so you'll never accidentally dispense more than you need.
The actual shimmer pearl is a frosty pink colour, but don't let that frighten you, once it's blended into the skin it becomes more of a shimmery, clear pearlescent colour. It's very, very natural - and if you apply it well, you won't even be able to tell it's actually on your skin until you tilt your face to catch the sunlight.
Squeezed out of the tube
You'll only need about this amount overall
Almost fully blended into the skin
The shimmer pearl base looks obviously shimmery in the swatch above, but I left it like that so you could see what it's like - when you apply it it shouldn't be obvious at all. Only a small amount is required for application, and the pinky frostiness should disappear as you dab it onto the skin, it'll then pretty much sink into the skin (whether it's due to the warmth of the skin, or the blending I'm not sure). But it won't look glittery or pink.
This is how it looks when it catches the light (see the cheekbone area - it's quite subtle). It's super natural - you can't see any harsh edges or obvious shimmer particles at all, which is a key part in faking nice, radiant skin ^^
I've used this on top of my Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation, and it didn't smear the foundation, or make my face look cakey or anything like that.
A must have for defining the nose bridge!
And I love using it on my cupid's bow too~
This is on top of my Lioele Dollish Vita bb cream (which I also love & recommend!)
I regularly use it on top of my (thicker textured) bb creams too, and again have had no problems with cakeyness or what not. Again, the shimmer base just melds into my skin - I use my fingers, but a foundation brush could be used too.
- super affordable
- super natural yet pretty effect - gives a glow to skin
- a little goes a long way
- very fine pearl shimmer particles - no fake, obvious glitter effect
- melds into skin instead of sitting on top of it
- none - honestly!
- But I guess if you like a very obvious shimmery, glittery effect than perhaps this one is too natural for you
Overall I highly recommend this is you're after a good quality, but affordable liquid highlighter. I love this to bits - it just takes so little time or effort, and the results are fantastic. I may not have naturally glowy skin, but at least I can fake it ^_^
Are you a fan of highlighters? What are your little tips or tricks to faking or enhancing luminous skin?
Thank you for reading!
