SKINCARE REVIEW: My Beauty Diary - Apple Polyphenol Sheet Masks

Brand: My Beauty Diary, Apple Polyphenol
Function/s: pore tightening, hydration
Best suits skin type/s: all skin types, but especially skin with visible pores
Price: about $13 on Sasa (10 sheets)

The Apple Polyphenol sheet masks have a refreshing green apple scent, that's perfect for summer use. Nano mild Hibiscus acid tightens pores, while Alpha Hydroxy Acid prevents and corrects pores.

Chill the sheets in the fridge beforehand, for an extra cooling sensation in the summer time.

This is my fourth set of My Beauty Diary sheet masks, and yes, they do meet my expectations - performing well to give my skin that brighter, smoother, and softer sensation after usage. However the Apple Polyphenol is not one of my favourites, simple because I prefer hydrating sheet masks over oil controlling or pore tightening masks.

These masks do make my skin tingle a little after I put them on - most likely an indication of the pore tightening ingredients working its magic on my skin. I generally wear sheet masks when I want to relax and hydrate my skin, so I don't really appreciate the slight itch.

And, similar to the Strawberry Yoghurt sheet masks I tried before, these masks did cause some slight, temporary redness. Again, that's probably due to the pore tightening ingredients, and also because my skin type is quite easily prone to redness. Despite this, I think sensitive skin types can still use them - maybe just ensure that you don't go over the recommended 20-30 minute timeline, and maybe rinse the serum off instead of letting it absorb.

PROS

  • as with other MBD variants, skin feels hydrated, fresh and super smooth after use
  • a nice and refreshing apple juice scent
  • can feel some pore/skin tightening (a tingling sensation)
  • I have a feeling oily skin types would really like this!
  • generous amount of serum left over - good for neck and elbows

CONS

  • sometimes it causes some slight itchiness
  • seems to cause some temporary redness for me
  • would require repeat and constant usage to see a permanent change in size of pores

So, if you're looking for a sheet mask that works well on oilier skin tones, or skin with visible pores, this Apple Polyphenol mask may be what you want. I really like the apple scent too - it really has a summery feeling, lol.

Thanks for reading! Curious about trying this one? Then do enter my giveaway - I'm giving away two sheets of these as part of the prize~

Also, thanks for the lovely and kind comments from my last post! I really do appreciate the support <3

  9. Does it make your skin feel tight or difficult to stretch? I've tried pore tightening products before and I always have a problem with them stripping of moisture from my face. @_@

  10. No, they didn't make my skin tight - it was just a bit of an itchy/tingly feeling on part of my cheek (which is a little dryer, and prone to redness). The serum is fairly moisturising, I think.

  13. Thank you so much for this review!! I have a box of these masks but I've yet to try them!
Really hope I don't get itchy when I get around to using them. I'm currently using the Strawberry Yogurt one and my face gets a little itchy from it >_<

I've tried the black pearl one and the collagen: http://www.ourwonderlust.com/ourwonderlust/my-beauty-diary-sheet-masks.html They are both just OK.
