Circle Lens Review-GEO Angel Violet (14mm)

GEO Angel Violet
14mm
Purple with dark limbal ring
From candylens.com (they had a Halloween promotion, buy 3 get a random pair free, so these were my freebies)

VERDICT
An unusual and interesting colour. I'm really glad it was a freebie as I doubt I will purchase a second pair in the future. Why? I just really, really can't get over how my brown eyes don't quite blend with the violet. It makes no difference from a distance, but when I look at them up close I can't stop thinking about it (yeah, I'm picky that way!).

COMFORT: No dryness or pain, but I have experienced 'smudged' vision (y'know that feeling of getting powder eye-shadow in your eye?) on 2 separate occasions. 3.5/5

DESIGN: a large pupil hole means a noticeable switch from purple to brown, encircled by little black squiqqly lines. I think it looks unnervingly strange close up. If there had been some other patterning to help blend, or bring together the purple and brown, I would like them more. 2.5/5

ENLARGEMENT: Yes, but my eyes are small so any circle lens will provide enlargement. I wouldn't say they give a big-eyed, dolly look though. 3.5/5

COLOUR: is not very noticeable from a distance, they just look 'dark'. Up close I feel they look a bit cartoon-y. 3.5/5

TOTAL: 13/20

So, not the most glowing of reviews but this is just my own opinion, personal experience and personal preference.  I guess I'm just more of a 'traditionalist'. I generally gravitate towards intricate patterns in more natural eye colour shades like brown anyway, so I'm probably a little resistant to new colours like purple. But! I do have the GEO Tri Colour Violet Lenses, which appear to have a more intricate pattern, so I'm eager to try those soon. I won't give up on coloured lenses just yet :P

It looks a bit blue here? First it was cloudy...
Then it became extra sunny
You can see a significant portion of brown in the middle and that is what squicks me- it looks like my pupils are blown wide...

  1. Ohh. Freebies are always nice. I think the lens look good on you. I've always wanted to try violet lens & also some brown ones from Candylens, but there is so much to choose from. I get a little overwhelmed. I've had some brown lens that I ordered from where I usually get my eyes checked out & they made me look like a vampire. I don't mind looking like one though, hehe.
